Improving Tag-ability
« on: June 28, 2018, 10:10:53 PM »
Hey guys,

I have a tagger that has good range, but you have to be dead on accurate to hit the sensors. I want to improve my spread but I need at least 50ft of range. Any ideas?

UPDATE: I kept my original layout so I could keep my range, but I added another LED in series closer to the focus lens so I would also get short/mid-range tag-ability. I am testing the tagger more extensively this week, but this seems to have solved the problem.

I thought about suggesting this, but I had no experience trying it to tell you it would work.  This is good to know, and thank you for posting your results!

It's been through 3 days of testing so far and there have been no noticeable changes to battery life and no apparent damage to the board. I assume it ultimately shortened my range slightly, but I am still able to tag well over 75 ft, so I am fine with it.
