Game: Upgrade
« on: July 30, 2017, 07:38:50 PM »
This game is based on "Gun Game" from Call of duty. We use colored lights to identify our teams, and we thought this would be cool. Game works best 5-10 players. It is a free for all with a basic gun setting. in a 2 minute round. Survivors who got a kill start the next round with a red light and an upgraded gun. There are 4 levels of upgrades, and whoever survives with the best upgrade wins.

Example:

(Start)  No light: standard settings for gun
(LVL 1) Red Light: Gun does double damage
(LVL 2) Green Light: Gun does double damage and has double armor
(LVL 3) Blue Light: Gun does double damage, has double armor, and shoots twice as fast

Haven't tested it out yet, any comments appreciated.

Sounds like a good game.  The only concern would probably be having either enough time or enough taggers configured as ref guns that can clone the player taggers to the new gun specs between rounds.  So, if you go one round without dying, you go back to your spawn point and clone your gun with the Red level specs.  Then if you survive to the next round again, you go back and spawn to the Green level specs.  You could have a central point for the cloning, but to keep the game moving, you'll want to have at least a few guns preconfigured to clone at each level.  Might get a little cumbersome keeping all those settings straight, but definitely workable.  I think you'll want to make it so no one can respawn until the next level so you know who deserves an upgrade and who does not.

We use a single ref, so there are some bugs to work out. I was thinking about switching the game around.

The game is now called "Downgrade". It is a free for all in a 10 minute game. Tagged players head to the referee to respawn where they get a downgraded gun. When you run out of downgrades you lose. There are 4 levels of downgrades, and last man standing wins.

Example:

(LVL 1) Blue Light: Gun does double damage, has double armor, and shoots twice as fast
(LVL 2) Green Light: Gun does double damage and has double armor
(LVL 3) Red Light: Gun does double damage
(LVL 4) No light: standard settings for gun
(LVL 5) No Respawn-Game over

Haven't tested it out yet, any comments appreciated.

All these configurations with only one Ref gun for cloning?  How are you switching all those configurations so fast?

Not one REF gun, just one REF. We use preloaded gun in a boxes for our different game types and powerup options. So each box is going to be preloaded as one of the options and set to clone. When they come up to the ref he just clones the appropriate box. That way we don't lose speed in gameplay.
