Sound on the Core module but not on the Umt module
« on: February 04, 2013, 11:11:01 PM »
Is there a method to add the silenced gunfire sound that is on the CORE and add it to the Umt module, because that sound really rocks.

It should be possible to replace shot wav file in the UMT sound utility directory with the silenced sample from the Core sound utility. So long as the silenced is same length or shorter, it should be OK.
If silenced sound is too long, use the excellent free prog Audacity to shorten it without changing the pitch.

You can replace the standard gunfire sound with the silenced one, but not add it in as an additional sound.

I did try that after using Audacity to make the silenced wav file a tad bit shorter so that it would be almost as long as the Umt shot wav file. I must be doing something wrong because it still plays as the Umt shot sound. I unzipped all the sounds to a file then edited the sound, copied the new sound ( silenced ), and replaced the original Umt shot sound with this one, even named it the same. Now just scratching my head.

Also, the new wav files properties are not the same as the other wav files, am I saving them in wrong format? Never used Audacity or any other editing programs before.

Load up one of the original files into audacity and check the properties. It's probably mono, so anything you use needs to be mono as well.
Also, check the sample rate.

Once I get the sounds to look good, is there a folder to place them for the Umt editor to use them?

Is it required to have the LS 20/20 plugged in, in order for the umt to function? Also, I am not running and sensors for the gun with what I am doing, do I need to hook up a sensor to the umt anyway?

No sensor required. Remember the UMT PIC needs reprogramming with the audio update firmware to program the sounds.
